Yes. All Kabuto formulas are vegan — no animal ingredients, no bee products, no animal by-products. The formulas are built on plant-based and mineral actives: plant keratin, coconut and olive oil, eucalyptus, menthol, shea butter, clay. This applies to the entire range — hair styling, care, aftershave, skin care and beard oil alike.

No. Kabuto Katana neither conducts animal testing nor commissions it — neither on the finished product nor on the raw materials. Within the EU, animal testing on cosmetics has been prohibited since March 2013 anyway (Regulation 1223/2009). Kabuto additionally requires animal-test-free raw materials from every supplier in the chain.

The skin-contact lines (skin care, aftershave, beard oil, talc) are tested for skin tolerance in independent studies on human volunteers. The studies assess irritation potential on first application and tolerance with repeated use. The tests are never run on animals. With known allergies, it is still advisable to check the full INCI list on the respective product page before buying.

Gel (e.g. HG 001 Gummy, HG 002 Ultra Hold) gives the hardest hold with a glossy finish, dries stiff and is suited to slick-backs and crisp lines. Wax has more pliability — the hair-styling line (AW 001–010, 10 textures: Aqua Wax, Aqua Gel, Pomade, Matte Clay, Cream and more) is water-soluble; Foam Wax (FW 001 Keratin, FW 002 Sea Salt) adds texture; Powder Wax (PW 001–003) gives volume without weight. Classic pomade in modern form: Water Based Pomade (AW 005 Desert Ronin) — water-soluble, no petrolatum, precisely dosable.

Fine hair: PW 001 Amai Strong or PW 002 Ronin Dust for volume without weight. Normal to thick hair: the AW series for defined looks with shine, FW 002 Sea Salt for a matte beach finish. All Kabuto styling products (hair-styling AW line, Foam Wax, Powder Wax, Gel) are water-soluble. A normal shampoo cycle with warm water is usually enough. With very strong hold (HSP 001 Extreme Hold, HSP 003 Mega Hold), lather briefly twice and rinse thoroughly. Daily stylers should use PKS 005 Keratin Shampoo once a week for a deeper clean.

Rule of thumb for medium-length hair: a fingertip-sized portion (roughly pea-sized). With Powder Wax products, a brief dusting at the roots is enough. Using too much weighs the hair down and kills volume. Warm the product between your palms first, then work it evenly into towel-dried hair — never press it straight from the jar into the hair.

The hair-styling line (AW 001 Sunfire Edge through AW 010 Violet Venom, 10 textures) is water-soluble and — depending on the texture — delivers hold from light to maximum with natural shine to matte finish. Application: spread a pea- to fingertip-sized amount between your palms, work into towel-dried hair, shape. Air-drying leaves more texture; blow-drying with a diffuser gives crisper lines. Do not apply to overly wet hair — the product will not distribute evenly.

HSP 001 Extreme Hold (400 ml) keeps demanding styles in place all day, is moisture-resistant and dosed for daily use. HSP 003 Mega Hold (500 ml salon size) is the uncompromising professional version for high styles, long layers and looks that need to hold under salon conditions for hours without adjustment. Both sprays are residue-free and do not flake — apply from 25 cm distance onto the finished style.

PW 001 Amai Strong, PW 002 Ronin Dust and PW 003 Hinoki Hold are powder waxes for instant volume. Application: sprinkle a small amount directly onto the roots (hold the can above the head, shake lightly), then work into dry hair with your fingertips. Never apply to wet hair — the powder clumps. The finish is matte to lightly mattified, ideal for fine hair that needs more body.

SSP 001 Sea Salt Spray (150 ml) delivers instant texture and loose beach volume. Spray onto damp or dry hair, scrunch in, air-dry. For more hold, work a pea-sized amount of FW 002 Foam Wax Sea Salt on top. Sea Salt Spray does not stick and shakes out or brushes out without trouble.

SS 001 Sheen Spray Coconut & Olive Oil (400 ml) is a finisher: a thin mist of shine laid over the finished style to seal the shape and add brilliance — the classic barbershop look. Mist lightly from 30 cm distance. Never spray too close, or wet spots form. Pairs well with the AW gel waxes and the HG gels.

MCS 001 Blue through MCS 006 Red are temporary colour sprays for stage, festival and cosplay. Shake the can, spray from 20 cm distance onto dry, un-oiled hair, allow to air-dry. One pass covers evenly. Washes out with a normal shampoo cycle — no residue, no scalp staining. On blond hair, a slight tint may remain; test on a strand first.

Aqua Wax is a water-based styling wax — light texture, high shine, medium hold and washable without residue. Kabuto's three Aqua Wax characters are Crimson Slash, Golden Oni and Sunfire Edge, made for everyday looks with definition and a natural shine.

Aqua Gel is a wax-gel hybrid: water-soluble, stronger hold than wax alone, glossy finish without crunch. The Aqua Gel character at Kabuto is Violet Venom — ideal for structured styles with a clear line.

Water Based Pomade replaces classic oil-based pomade with a water-soluble formula — no petrolatum, no greasy film, fully washable. Desert Ronin is Kabuto's Water Based Pomade character: classic slick-back shine, modern handling.

Fiber wax is a hair wax containing elastic fibres: rubbed between your palms it pulls into fine strands – which is why it is also called spider web wax. The fibres add texture, body and a flexible hold that can be restyled throughout the day. At Kabuto this is the “Cosmo Crush” spider web wax from the hair styling range.

Both come out of the bottle as foam but do different jobs: a classic styling mousse is applied to damp hair and locks in volume and shape while blow-drying. Foam wax combines the light foam texture with wax content – it also works in dry hair, holds more flexibly and can be restyled at any time. Kabuto offers foam wax in two versions: with keratin and with sea salt.

Powder wax – also called volume powder or styling powder – is an ultra-light styling powder that instantly creates volume, grip and a matte finish at the roots. How to use it: sprinkle sparingly onto dry hair, work in at the roots with your fingertips, add more if needed. At Kabuto: the “Amai Strong” powder wax plus the Hinoki Hold and Ronin Dust versions.

Sea salt spray contains sea salt that gives hair grip, texture and light volume: the typical beach look, as after a day by the sea. Spray it into towel-dried or dry hair and scrunch with your hands; the result is matte and natural, without firm hold. At Kabuto: the sea salt spray from the hair styling range.

A water-based pomade delivers the shine and hold of a classic oil-based pomade, but washes out completely with water and can be reactivated at any time with damp hands. Hairspray gives flexible hold and brushes out easily. Hair lacquer is the strongest level of spray fixation: it seals the style permanently and precisely – in the barbershop it is the finish for sharp contours and elaborate styles. BMO 001 Beard and Moustache Oil (90 ml) is used once a day, ideally after washing the beard or after a shower, when the skin is still damp and the oil penetrates more deeply. Three to five drops for a full beard, one to two drops for a moustache — spread between the palms, massage against the direction of growth, then comb through with the beard comb.

BMS 001 Beard and Moustache Shampoo (150 ml) is matched to the dense hair structure and the sensitive facial skin — not aggressive enough to strip the natural oils of the beard area. Wet the beard, lather a pea-sized amount, massage briefly, rinse thoroughly, pat dry gently. Twice a week is enough; daily use dries out the skin underneath.

Yes, noticeably so for most wearers. The itch in the first two to six weeks of beard growth comes from dry skin under the stubble. BMO 001 Beard Oil sinks into the skin, calms sebum production and softens the hairs so they no longer prickle against the skin. With strong itch, apply three times a day — one to two drops are enough — then reduce to once daily.

Yes. The stubble phase is precisely when the skin under the bristles is most irritated — and the phase in which beard oil has the greatest effect. Massage one to two drops of BMO 001 into the skin once daily, not onto the stubble. Reduces itch and redness without giving the stubble an oily shine.

For full beards, the PBB 001 Premium Beard Brush with a high-quality bristle blend — distributes beard oil evenly, controls the direction of growth, massages the skin. For precise contours and the moustache, the finer hair combs from the comb line (HKM 129 as fine comb, HKM 125 as long comb). After beard oil or balm, comb in the direction of growth and re-trace the contours with the comb.

The moustache needs less volume than a full beard, but more shape control. Spread a small amount (one drop) of BMO 001 Beard and Moustache Oil between your fingers, work it into the moustache, draw it into shape with the fine comb (HKM 129). For stronger hold, work in a small portion of AW gel wax and twirl.

For robust skin and the classic barbershop effect: the EDC 001–010 cologne line (alcohol-based), applied with a slap — it neutralises the skin feel after the blade. For sensitive or dry skin: SCC 001 Aftershave Cream (250 ml) — non-greasy, absorbs and calms. For very dry skin, additionally HFC 001 Pomegranate or HFC 002 Fig & Grapefruit hand and face cream.

Aftershave colognes calm the skin after the blade through their light alcohol content and disinfecting effect. For strong razor burn or razor bumps, the classic cologne is too sharp — use SCC 001 Aftershave Cream instead. As prevention: apply CPG 001 Skin Cleansing Gel before shaving, massage briefly, rinse — this opens the pores and reduces the blade's drag on the skin.

Spray or pour a generous amount into your palms, briefly distribute between your hands, apply with a slap (not a rub) to cheeks, neck and nape. Allow to air-dry — do not wipe off. The light sting in the first seconds is normal and settles after 10–20 seconds. Do not apply to fresh cuts.

SCC 001 Aftershave Cream (250 ml) is a rich cream — absorbs, hydrates, leaves a long, elegant scent, no sting. Suitable for daily use on dry or sensitive skin. The alcohol-based EDC colognes are classic barbershop style: short kick, clear trail, neutralises the skin instantly after the blade. The two can also be layered — cologne first, cream after 5 minutes.

PM 001 Black Peel-Off Mask (150 ml) is designed for combination skin and impurities — typically the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin). Apply to cleansed skin, let dry for around 20–30 minutes until a film has formed, then peel off in a single motion from bottom to top. The film lifts blackheads and sebum residue out of the pores. Use once or twice a week, no more often.

BTP 001 Barber Talc (180 g) is the classic powder for finishing a cut and shave. Applied with a brush over the nape, hairline and face, it absorbs excess moisture and skin oil, leaves a dry, clean feel, and removes the stickiness from the area the cape has rested on. Brush off any residue.

CM 001 Clay Mask (350 g) is a clay-based mask for face and scalp — binds excess oil, clarifies the skin, prepares for further care, rinsed off with water. PM 001 Peel-Off Black Mask (150 ml) dries to a film that is removed mechanically and pulls out blackheads. Clay Mask is gentler and suited to regular use (once or twice a week), Peel-Off is the more intensive action (every one to two weeks).

CPG 001 Skin Cleansing & Peeling Gel (250 ml) is a gentle pre-shave exfoliant. Apply to damp skin, massage briefly in circular motions (10–20 seconds), rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Loosens dead skin cells, opens the pores and prepares the skin for the blade — reduces ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Two to three times a week.

Daily stylers: daily washing is fine if the shampoo isn't too aggressive — PKS 005 Pro-Hair Keratin Shampoo is daily-compatible. Light stylers: two to three times a week is enough. With an oily scalp, HT 001 Hair & Scalp Tonic Mintori helps between washes. Daily washing with hot water dries out the scalp — stay lukewarm, finish with a cold rinse.

HS 004 Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (380 ml) is built on an active formula that addresses the main driver of classic dandruff — the yeast Malassezia furfur. Application: three times a week, massage into the scalp for 90 seconds, then rinse thoroughly. First improvement is usually visible after two to four weeks. With chronic seborrhoeic dermatitis, consult a dermatologist in parallel.

HS 003 Anti-Hair-Loss Shampoo (380 ml) revitalises the scalp, strengthens the hairline and supports a denser appearance — no miracle cure, but part of a routine that supports cases of androgenetic alopecia and temporary hair loss. Application: two to three times a week, massage into the scalp for a minute. Complement with HT 001 Hair & Scalp Tonic Mintori massaged into the scalp daily — do not rinse out. A consistent routine over at least three months is the prerequisite for visible effects. With more severe hair loss, a dermatological review is recommended.

HT 001 Hair & Scalp Tonic Mintori with eucalyptus and menthol activates the hair follicles, cools the scalp noticeably and reduces oily shine. Application: massage into the scalp, do not rinse, use daily — also after the hair has dried. Either as a complement to the anti-hair-loss shampoo or as a pure freshness tonic in summer.

TPC 001 Milk Therapy and TPC 002 Keratin (each 400 ml) are bi-phase leave-in sprays: two layers (watery and oily) that are shaken before use. Deliver instant moisture, detangle, coat every fibre without weighing it down. Application: shake before use, spray into towel-dried hair, do not rinse. TPC 002 Keratin for stressed, bleached or coloured hair; TPC 001 Milk Therapy for daily care.

CDC 001 Curl Cream (250 ml) is a light styling cream that defines curls and waves, controls frizz and leaves a natural feel without stickiness. Application: distribute a walnut-sized amount over towel-dried hair, twirl strands individually, air-dry. With a blow-dryer, work with a diffuser. For more shine, finish with a hint of SS 001 Sheen Spray.

HBS 001 Black and HBS 002 Brown (each 200 ml) are 2-in-1 colour shampoos: cleanse, colour and cover grey hair in five minutes — usable on both scalp hair and beard. Application: apply to wet hair or beard, leave on for five minutes, rinse thoroughly. The result is a powerful concealment of the grey share, not a permanent dye job — the colour fades gradually with each wash.

PKS 001 Pro-Hair Keratin Shampoo Salon-Size 1000 ml or the larger salon sizes (PKS 002, PKS 005) cleanse gently and strengthen the hair fibre — suitable for coloured, bleached or permed hair. Follow up with HC 001 Salon Keratin Conditioner (2500 ml) on the lengths, leave on for three minutes. Avoid sulfate foaming agents with a high pH — the Kabuto keratin line is formulated to be colour-compatible.

A hair tonic – also called a scalp tonic – is a classic barbershop product: a light liquid that is applied to the scalp after washing and massaged in. It refreshes the scalp and leaves a well-groomed feeling without weighing the hair down. At Kabuto: the “Mintori” scalp tonic in the hair care category.

EDC 001–010 (After Shave Cologne, each 150 ml and 400 ml) are skin-calming after the shave — light alcohol content, immediate trail. EDC 011 Classic Lemon 2500 ml and EDC 012 Classic Lemon 5000 ml are classic eau de cologne in salon format — the bright, citric barbershop scent slapped onto skin and neck after the cut and after the shave. Functionally the same; the salon size is built for barbershops with high throughput.

The EDC line is dosed in the classic barbershop way: a perceptible top note for around 20–40 minutes, a light heart note for another two to four hours. This is not an eau de parfum with an eight-hour sillage — the character is editorially restrained, precise, not perfume-heavy. For a longer trail, reapply a small amount to the pulse points on the neck after 3 hours.

Day and office: EDC 003 Snow Blossom (cool and clear) or EDC 009 Coral Dawn (warm citrus). Evening and meetings: EDC 005 Golden Botan (herbal-elegant), EDC 007 Violet Bloom (floral-deep). Sport and summer: EDC 004 Azure Ronin (aquatic), EDC 006 Spirit Tide (deep-marine). Statement and night: EDC 010 Sunfire Edge (smoky), EDC 001 Crimson Lotus (spicy-floral). Right after the shower or shave, when the skin is slightly damp and the pores are open — the scent binds better. Apply to neck, chest, inside of the wrists, behind the ears. Never rub — that destroys the top note. To wear the cologne all day, plan a small refresh on the neck in the morning and around midday.

Kolonya is the traditional Turkish alcohol-based fragrance water and a fixed part of every barbershop visit: after a haircut or shave it is massaged into the neck, face and hands and leaves a cool, fresh feeling on the skin. In Türkiye, kolonya is also a gesture of hospitality. The Kabuto after shave colognes – such as Sakura Mist – stand in exactly this tradition.

Aftershave (German: Rasierwasser) is the umbrella term for alcohol-based lotions applied after shaving to refresh the skin. An after shave cologne – Turkish: tıraş kolonyası – is the barbershop version: more intensely fragranced, applied more generously, and also used on the neck after a haircut. The two overlap in function; the Kabuto colognes are classic barbershop aftershaves with distinctive fragrance profiles.

Two-step routine: SC 001 Shaver Cleaner 5-in-1 (400 ml) sprayed onto the running blade between cuts — cleans, disinfects, lubricates, cools and protects in a single step. Warm wax – Turkish: sir ağda – is heated, applied with a spatula and peeled off together with the hairs once it has cooled.
