StyleCraft Instinct Hair Clipper

The StyleCraft Instinct is a compact hair clipper with a patented IN2 Vector motor and torque control: 8,500 rpm at idle, up to 11,500 rpm under load. According to the manufacturer, the motor senses resistance in the hair and adds torque instead of slowing down. It cuts with a Faper fixed blade in Black Diamond Carbon DLC and a Shallow Tooth 2.0 cutter, also DLC; the blade is fully adjustable and can be set to zero gap. The manufacturer states that the Black Diamond blades stay sharp longer, run cooler and are rust impermeable, and that the pairing is made for blending, fading and bulk removal.

The clipper takes length off with a guard and builds the taper on the sides and back. A trimmer then works the edges: hairline, neck, beard line. A foil shaver comes last and takes the surface down smooth.

The lithium-ion battery gives up to two hours of cordless run time; run time varies with the use of torque control, according to the manufacturer. Charging is via the supplied charging stand or the pass-through charging cable. The power button lights up blue in use and while charging, and goes out once the battery is full. The box holds eight magnetic guards #0 to #6 including #1.5, three modular body kits - one with a transparent motor showcase window - click and floating taper levers, a cleaning and maintenance kit and a mini screwdriver for blade adjustment.
